Nook On The Hill is a handcrafted sustainable tiny house located at the foothills of the beautiful Gariwerd/Grampians National Park, just a 10 minute drive from Halls Gap.

Centred around a custom-made reclaimed blackbutt sofa, the lounge provides a cosy, space to unwind with a warm cup of tea, read a book or gaze across the sweeping Gariwerd Ranges. Featuring floor to ceiling windows and a grand vaulted ceiling, the Nook’s lounge sees the light and spaciousness from outdoors flow inside without interruption.

Designed for those who love to cook, the kitchen serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with ease. With polished concrete benches, a full-sized oven and hob, sharp knives and handmade crockery, the space has everything you need to prepare a beautiful feast with local produce. 

A complimentary hamper will be waiting for you, featuring an array of local goods Blue Wren Bakery bread, spreads from Five Ducks Farm and two bottles of Pomonal Estate Wine.

For those that find doing the dishes meditative, a beautiful butlers sink awaits. For others, a dishwasher is discreetly built into the cabinetry — simply load it up and pour yourself another wine.

Perched high on the mezzanine, a cosy nest welcomes you home from wanderings and wineries alike. Featuring furniture custom-made from reclaimed hardwood, the space is filled with intelligent hiding spots for your belongings. A queen bed dressed with buttery linen and a soft alpaca throw, offers the perfect place to sleep under the stars and wake up to the calls of native birds.

Snuggle up on lush velvet cushions and settle in to your favourite book. Looking for something new? The shelves are stocked with a selection of our favourites for you to enjoy.

The only space with a dedicated door separating it from the rest of the house, the bathroom greets you with a character of its own. Featuring hand-painted tiles, a handcrafted ceramic basin and a large overhead rain shower, the bathroom offers a secluded sanctuary to unwind from the world.

Over 450 native plants showcase the incredible beauty of indigenous flora while an array of native fauna call the Nook’s garden home. Expect to see Grey Fantails flitting through the garden while White Throated Tree Creepers dance down the tree trunks. Blue-banded bees pollinate the garden while curious kangaroos and emus watch on from across the way.
 
At night, grab a torch and go for a wander. Tawny Frogmouths will be catching moths while Sugar Gliders jump from branch to branch.

Nestled amongst the natives lies a recycled, cast iron bath. With complete plumbing and sweeping views across Gariwerd, you can unwind and get lost in the Nook’s natural surrounds in any season.

A humble structure covered in native vines, the pergola provides a beautiful spot for Gariwerd mountain gazing with a picnic table and festoon lighting to set the scene. Grab the Nook’s binoculars and watch the birds and animals go busily about their day. At night, enjoy a glass of wine and cheeseboard under the gentle glow of the lights.

The evenings are cool in Gariwerd. Thankfully, the outdoor fire pit offers a great spot to slow down and warm up. The Nook’s firewood is sourced locally from a purpose-grown carbon negative plantation.
